AS草榴社区 Begins Accepting Applications聽for聽the 2021-22 Student Trustee
On Friday, March 5, the Associated Students of Western Washington University (AS草榴社区) will begin accepting applications from students to serve as the next Student Trustee. Applications will be accepted until March 31 at 4 p.m.
鈥淏eing able to serve on the Board of Trustees is a great opportunity to learn how the university works. You get to add your perspective and weigh in on issues that impact the entire campus community. If your goal is to be heard, this is your position,鈥 AS President Abdul Malik Ford said as he reflected on engaging students to apply.
The is the university鈥檚 governing body, whose broad responsibilities are to supervise, coordinate, manage, and regulate 草榴社区 as provided by state statute.
鈥淗aving thoughtful and engaged student leadership on the Board of Trustees is critical to advancing Western鈥檚 goals with respect to inclusive student success, the quality of the student experience, and increasing Western鈥檚 impact in the region,鈥 草榴社区 President Sabah Randhawa said. This July, the Board will welcome their 23rd Student Trustee, who will collaboratively steward 草榴社区鈥檚 continued growth.
鈥淭he experience and perspective that current students can add to the conversations that shape the strategic direction of the University is invaluable,鈥 said Randhawa.

The AS草榴社区 initially screens all applicants with the purpose to provide the Office of the Governor with 3-5 finalists for consideration. The position also allows students to develop their personal and professional skills.
