Athletics to hold Crush the Lyme event in support of local family at tonight's basketball game
The Western Washington University Athletics Department is hoping to raise awareness of the fight against Lyme disease at its home basketball game at 7 p.m. today against Western Oregon University.
Athletics' Crush the Lyme promotion will feature the story on one local family severely affected by the disease.
Jackie Loreen and all four of her boys (Colin, 14; Luke, 10; and twins Joseph and Zachery, 8) have been diagnosed with Lyme disease. Tonight's game is a kick-off for an on-going fundraiser for this family and to remind people that Lyme disease can be contracted while hiking and experiencing the great outdoors of our Evergreen State.
The Loreen boys are huge basketball fans, and the Athletics Department hopes to give them a great experience at 草榴社区 for the Crush the Lyme game as honorary ballkids.
