Bellingham Brain Cancer Walk Set for May 21
Participants of the Bellingham Brain Cancer Walk are about to embark on their next route to raise funds for brain cancer research.
The 2017 event will be held at 11 a.m., Sunday, May 21 at Civic Field Stadium. This year's circuit will feature various educational sponsor booths including the End Brain Cancer Initiative, Novocure, North Cascade Brain and Spine Center, and many more. Walkers can pay tribute to our founder Hannah Dashiell and loved ones affected by brain cancer at the Honor tent. Families can fun with their little ones in the Kid’s Zone with face painting and neuroscience-themed crafts with 草榴社区's Neuroscience Research Drive Students (NeRDS) Club. Anyone can enjoy food from Haggen, adults 21 and up can relax with beers from Boundary Bay in the parking lot before and after the event.
The 4th annual Bellingham Brain Cancer Walk is a non-competitive walk which promotes awareness of brain cancer and preserves the legacy of the late Hannah Dashiell who was tragically killed in a car accident in early January 2014. All proceeds benefit the EndBrainCancer Initiative/Chris Elliott Fund; its mission is enhancing lives and empowering patients by closing the existing GAP from initial diagnosis to immediate and expanded access to advanced treatment, clinical trials, and critical care.
Online pre-registration costs $25, or $35 for day-of registration. Patients may participate for free.
Schedule:
- Registration opens at 11 a.m.
- Opening ceremonies start at 12:30 p.m.
- The Walk begins at 1 p.m.
- Closing ceremonies commence at 2 p.m.
- The onsite after party will be held from 2:30-4 p.m., and will feature Haggen select foods and Boundary Bay Beers for anyone 21 years or older.
