Trustees Approve 2012-2013 Operating Budget; 2013-2015 Capital Budget Request

Western’s Board of Trustees on Friday approved Western’s 2012-13 operating budget. The trustees also approved Western’s 2013-2015 Capital Budget Request, and 2013-23 Capital Plan.

budget totals $140. 1 million, which includes anticipated state funding of $41.1 million and tuition revenue of $88 million.  The operating budget was originally presented to the trustees in June 2011 and includes only some minor housekeeping adjustments, as the state Legislature did not cut higher education further in the upcoming fiscal year. The trustees also approved the 2013-15 Capital Budget Request of $112.36 million from state-appropriated funding sources.  Requests for funding for major capital projects include: Carver Academic Facility Renovation; Gateway Complex (Academic Services and Performing Arts Facility design); and the Interdisciplinary Science Facility – Predesign. In other business, the trustees:

  • Elected Peggy Zoro as board chair, Karen Lee as vice chair and Betti Fujikado as board secretary. The new officers will serve two-year terms. The trustees also thanked Dennis Madsen, board chair the last two years, for his dedicated and inspired leadership.

  • Approved a resolution recognizing outgoing student for his service. The trustees also thanked outgoing Associated Students President Anna Ellermeier for her outstanding leadership.
