Campus to celebrate World Kindness Day this Friday, Nov. 12

Western will once again celebrate World Kindness Day this year; while the actual date for WKD is Nov. 13, the campus will celebrate an "extra day of kindness" by having its events on Friday, Nov. 12.

The university will have two "Kindness Booths" set up on Friday, from 9-11 a.m.one will be in front of the Viking Union, and the other will be in Red Square in front of Miller Hall. The booths will have free hot cocoa and hot water/tea, distribute Kindness buttons, and have sticky notes and pens for students and staff to write out kindness messages for the Kindness Wall (see image at right from 2019 Kindness Day), which will be set up in the Miller Hall Collaborative Space.

There will be an 鈥溾橧鈥 in Kind鈥 banner up under the overhang outside Miller Hall so that people can take their photo standing in as the 鈥淚" - students and staff are encouraged to have a colleague take their photo and post it to their social media with the hashtag "#wwukind."

Lastly, a 鈥淜indness Wall鈥 will be set up in the Miller Hall Collaborative Space for people to put up sticky-note "kindness messages." As an extra incentive, the therapy /stress relief dogs will be in the Collaborative Space from 9-11 a.m. that day as well (see image at right); stop by and have a snuggle - you will leave with a smile on your face.
