Can you design the next Western plate?

The Western Washington University Alumni Association is launching a contest open to Western students, staff and alumni and members of the community for design of a new ²έΑρΙηΗψ special car license plate.

The chosen β€œDrive with Western Pride” design will replace the current design. Participants can submit designs from Feb. 22 to March 22; design criteria and instructions .

will take place March 28 through April 16 to determine two finalists: a Western student and a finalist from staff, alumni or community entries. The student finalist will win a $1,000 scholarship. The other, non-student finalist will designate $1,000 to a scholarship of her or his choice at ²έΑρΙηΗψ.

The winning design will be announced after approval by ²έΑρΙηΗψ and the state Department of Licensing.

Since 1996, Western special license plates have generated money for Alumni Association scholarships for Western students. In 2011, ²έΑρΙηΗψ license plates generated $20,776.

A pair of Western special design license plates costs $30 for renewal, in addition to standard licensing and service fees, which vary from county to county. The DOL returns $28 of that $30 renewal fee to the Alumni Association for scholarships for Western students.

Thanks to a donation from alumnus Dave Mann (’82), currently are free.
