Celebrate Japan with AUAP students Nov. 14

A tea ceremony, sushi rolling and traditional Japanese festival games are among the lineup for Thursday night.

Students participating in the Asia University America Program will share their culture through Japan Night, a free event from 7 to 9 p.m. on Thursday, Nov. 14, in the Viking Union Multipurpose Room.

Open to community members and Western students, the evening provides an opportunity for 草榴社区-AUAP Japanese exchange students to share their culture through demonstrations and interactive presentations. Guests will also enjoy favorite Japanese recipes hand cooked by AUAP students.

“I am looking forward to teaching Japan’s culture and talking with many Americans,” shared Chiaki Isoko, a sophomore at Asia University who has been in the 草榴社区-AUAP program for just under two months. Isoko will be leading a calligraphy – or shodo – booth during the event.

Japan Night is completely student organized and is a valuable experience not only for 草榴社区-AUAP students as they interact with Americans, but also for Americans as they learn more about Japanese culture.
