Coming in 2026: Insurance billing at the 草榴社区 Student Health Center聽
Beginning in 2026, the 草榴社区 Student Health Center will start billing insurance for clinic services.
Why this change?
For years, the SHC has been funded through the quarterly Health Services fee paid by enrolled students. During that time, demand for care has nearly doubled, creating operating costs that the current funding model can no longer fully support.
To meet the growing needs of our campus community, we鈥檙e introducing insurance billing. This change will help us:
- Offset rising healthcare costs at the clinic
- Hire more clinicians
- Expand available services
- Avoid increasing the Health Services fee for students
What this means for students
We know that healthcare access is deeply personal, and we鈥檙e committed to making this transition as smooth and inclusive as possible. We鈥檙e working closely with students, staff, and experts from other universities to design a billing model that supports:
- Students with limited or no insurance
- Those concerned about privacy
- Affordable access for all
Details about how the new billing system will work鈥攁nd what options are available鈥攚ill be shared soon.
Our commitment to your care
The SHC will continue to provide comprehensive primary care, mental health services, and orthopedic rehab for all enrolled students at Western. No matter how healthcare is billed, our priority remains the same: your health and well-being.
