Conventicle of Curiosities starts Thursday

Western Washington University’s Department of Theatre and Dance will present “Conventicle of Curiosities,” directed by Professor of Dance Nolan Dennett, at 7:30 p.m. Thursday through Saturday, July 26 to 28, and at 2 p.m. on Sunday, July 29, in the Western Gallery.

Featuring premieres by Dennett and Professor of Dance Penny Hutchinson, “Conventicle of Curiosities” is an evening of movement theatre with points of inspiration as diverse as competitive sports, country hoedowns and the tragedy of King Lear.

In addition to the works by Dennett and Hutchinson, Dance faculty member Susan Haines will present a piece performed by two Western Dance alumni that was inspired by visual artist Barbara Kruger.

Western Dance student Stephanie Harper will also perform a premiere by Ranae Scott.

Tickets are available through the Box Office and are $12 for general admission; $10 for seniors, faculty and staff; and $8 for students.
