Denny Demorest Retirement Celebration set for March 28

Enterprise Application Services is hosting a retirement celebration in honor of Denny Demorest from 3-5 p.m. on Wednesday, March 28 at the AC building on 32nd Street, Room 213. We invite everyone who has known Denny and worked with him over the years to attend.

Denny began his career at Western in 1970 as a Programmer Analyst supporting the Testing Center, and he then moved on to be the primary support for the Financial Aid Office. At the beginning of his Western career, he programed using card decks and keypunches. It was also in 1970 when Denny met his wife of 47 years, Barbara, who was a student employee in the Computer Center. He later spent many years supporting the Student Accounts Office until finally moving to be the primary support for the Human Resources department. Denny has worked under numerous Computer Center directors beginning with Bob Holz when the Computer Center was still in Old Main. The Computer Center eventually became Administrative Computing Services, and now, Enterprise Application Services.

鈥淚t really has been a great career,鈥 said Denny. 鈥淚鈥檝e thoroughly enjoyed the university environment and had the privilege of working with and supporting some truly remarkable and extremely competent Western employees during my tenure at the university. I have always looked forward to coming to work and to the challenges that each day brought. I鈥檓 certainly looking ahead to retirement, but at the same time I鈥檒l miss the everyday interactions I鈥檝e had with so many wonderful co-workers, some of which I鈥檝e known and worked with for over 20 years.鈥

Denny plans to do a lot of traveling with his wife in their new Alto trailer by Safari Condo. They plan to be gone all of June, going up to Banff and then down to Colorado to join a rally of other Alto owners.
