Fairhaven service-road closure scheduled for next week
As part of the generator replacement project at Fairhaven (PW704), a tree whose root system previously caused three breaks in an old water main line will be removed next week. The water line will also be replaced. The work will occur at the northeast corner of the Fairhaven Academic building and requires closure of the service road (see map and schedule below). Vehicles/motorcyclists/bicyclists will not be able to access the parking lot north of Fairhaven (Lot 29G); pedestrians and bicyclists must detour through Fairhaven Plaza. Excavation, backfill and tree removal will create noise which the contractor will mitigate as much as possible. A boom lift will expedite the tree removal; a light tower will be used for evening work.
After 8 p.m. on Friday, Nov. 18, the road will reopen and the project will continue on a 7 a.m. – 5 p.m. work schedule.
