Fairhaven's World Issues Forum kicks off Sept. 28
This year marks the 22nd year of the Fairhaven College of Interdisciplinary Studies World Issues Forum (WIF), Western鈥檚 human rights and global justice speaker series. The WIF challenges students, faculty, staff, and community members to be active and engaged global citizens. Distinguished guest speakers address urgent global justice topics including planetary survival, decolonization and anti-racism, human rights, migrations, and the world economy.
Fall 2022's lineup of speakers includes topics such as food activism as climate action, residential schools and First Nations in Canada, race and racism in international asylum law, less developed countries and the global financial system, and food and caste politics in India. The first presentation of the academic year will be "The Poland-Ukraine Border in the Face of War" by Andrzej Jakubowski, a Cross Border Research Fellow in the Border Policy Research Institute at Western Washington University and an assistant professor in the Department of Social and Economic Geography of the Maria Curie-Sk艂odowska University in Lublin, Poland, at noon on Wednesday, Sept. 28 in the Fairhaven Auditorium.
All World Issues forums are held in the Fairhaven Auditorium on Wednesdays at noon to campus and community members, or can be streamed via Zoom at .
