Flags to be at half-staff Tuesday in honor of Department of Corrections officer
Gov. Chris Gregoire has directed that Washington state and U.S. flags at all state agency facilities be lowered to half-staff Tuesday, Feb. 8, in memory of Department of Corrections Officer Jayme Biendl, of Granite Falls, who was killed Jan. 29 at the Monroe Correctional Complex.
Flags should remain at half-staff until close of business Tuesday or first thing Wednesday morning, Feb. 9.
Other government entities, citizens and businesses are encouraged to join this recognition.
A memorial service for Officer Biendl is scheduled for 1 p.m. Tuesday, Feb. 8, at Comcast Arena in Everett.
