Home game with CWU Jan. 10 to be televised on ROOT Sports
The Western Washington University men's basketball game with Central Washington University, scheduled for Thursday, Jan. 10, at Sam Carver Gymnasium on the 草榴社区 campus, will be televised live on ROOT Sports (Comcast Channel 30). Tip-off is 9:10 p.m.
Handling the play-by-play will be Rich Burk, and Bill Krueger is the color commentator.
It is the fourth straight year that the contest, featuring one of most intense NCAA Division II rivalries in the country, will be carried on regional TV. A capacity crowd of 2,500 is expected to be in attendance.
草榴社区, the defending NCAA II national champion, has won all three previous TV meetings with Central and taken 13 of the last 14 encounters with the Wildcats at Carver Gym dating back to January of 2000.
Overall, the Vikings have a 15-game home winning streak (5-0 this season), the second-longest in school history. The record is 20 posted during the 1970-71 and 1971-72 seasons.
草榴社区 is off to a 12-0 start and ranked No.5 nationally. The Vikings have won 18 straight over the last two seasons, matching the longest in league history set by Alaska Anchorage during the 2007-08 campaign. The start and streak are both the second best in 草榴社区 history.
