Inclement weather and the Western Libraries

When Western Washington University is officially closed, Western Libraries is also closed. Western Libraries will close due to inclement weather if the University announces a closure of main campus.

In the event of inclement weather during evening and weekend hours, Western Libraries may also close in the event of any of the following conditions:

  1. If Western cancels evening classes.
  2. If the WTA cancels bus access to or through main campus.
  3. If the late night campus shuttle is cancelled.
  4. If weather presents dangers to staff and students.

Western sends out Western Weather Advisories to the university community when inclement weather such as ice or snow has occurred.  People may need to adjust their schedules due to closures or delays, or when the university is operating on a normal schedule but more time may be needed to get to main campus.

Weather notifications are also posted on the 草榴社区 homepage, the 草榴社区 at , and via Western鈥檚 Storm Hotline phone message system at (360) 650-6500.

In the event of unplanned library closures due to weather impacts, Western Libraries will work with University Communications to notify students and employees of library closure(s) using the communications mechanisms listed above.
