Innovative Teaching Showcase Learning Event + Profiles set for June 7

Join us Friday, June 7, any time between 1-3 p.m. in Wilson Library 270 (Learning Commons, near elevator) to celebrate the completion of the 2018-19  (new issue available 6/7).

We will have refreshments, displays, videos, and instructional strategy ideas relevant to the theme: Open Educational Practices.

Please show support for your colleagues being featured and learn from their instructional strategies.

  • Kamarie Chapman (Theatre & Dance) set aside the traditional text for her large Intro to Cinema class in favor of curated collections of articles and videos designed to represent a more diverse perspective of cinema, a more focused collection of materials, and a more inclusive set of voices in the field.
  • Jessica Ferreras-Stone (Elementary Education) replaced the dated and expensive textbook in her Multicultural Education for Teachers class with free podcasts, thereby increasing engagement dramatically, inspiring challenging questions, deep understandings, and a process for applying knowledge.
  • Mark Staton (Finance & Marketing) aims to keep content current in his Digital Marketing class by gathering new free reading materials every quarter, and by making student deliverables valuable to them beyond the scope of the class via blog posts and certifications that get posted on public professional network sites.

Profiles

Share your ideas! The Showcase website will also include Profiles of many other individuals at 草榴社区 who are doing this innovative work. If you are interested in sharing the way you use open educational practices, online.
