Bellingham attempted robbery could be third by Asian gunman

An attempted armed robbery in a grocery store parking lot Friday night, Nov. 26, could be connected to earlier gunpoint incidents in the Sehome area, according to Bellingham police.

Friday's incident took place just after 7:30 p.m. in the parking lot of the Sehome Haggen.

A woman who had been shopping had put her groceries and purse in her car when an Asian man approached and asked for directions to a local mall. He then displayed a handgun and demanded all her money. The woman screamed and the suspect ran away around the back of the store, according to Sgt. David Richards.
