"Two people –one a Capital High School graduate - rescued a 26-year-old man from the water early Wednesday after hearing his cries for help near the Whatcom Waterway channel.

Chris Dutton, 26, formerly of Olympia, and Shawna Ballard, 24, who run a charter boat company out of Alaska, were asleep in their 85-foot boat, the Catita II, when they were awakened about 3:30 a.m. by the sounds of a man yelling “Help me!” Ballard said."
