Bummed that Amtrak won’t go from Bellingham to Vancouver yet? Here’s a new option

For those disappointed that the Amtrak Cascade train route to Vancouver, B.C. is delayed until at least December, there is another transportation option starting Thursday, May 26.

FlixBus, which currently offers bus trips from Bellingham south, is launching its first cross-border route north starting at $17.99. The Vancouver connections will provide Pacific Northwest travelers with an option and fill a void in a region that has seen the loss of many cross-border travel options since 2020, according to a news release from the company. FlixBus’ first cross-border routes between Seattle and Vancouver will run five days per week in each direction Thursday through Monday and will also include stops in Everett and Bellingham. The bus will arrive at the Richards Street-Waterfront Station near Gastown in Vancouver around 11:30 a.m. Buses heading south to Seattle will leave around 12:45 p.m.

Flixbus relaunched its operations in Bellingham in April, with stops south that include Seattle, Tacoma, Olympia, Everett, Portland, Salem and Corvallis and Eugene. The Flixbus stop in Bellingham is at Western Washington University.
