Census report: College students boost Bellingham's poverty rate
Bellingham's poverty rate is heavily weighted by college students living off campus, according to a new report from the U.S. Census Bureau.
When college students living off campus and not living with family were excluded, Bellingham's poverty rate was 14.2 percent. The overall poverty rate was 22.3 percent, according to census data from 2009-11.
