After five years as Western’s chief of police and director of public safety, Randy Stegmeier will leave for a position with the Pike Place Market Preservation and Development Authority (PDA).
Previous Assistant Chief Darin Rasmussen, who will now serve as Western’s interim chief of police, will succeed Stegmeier, who has served in campus law enforcement for 46 years.
“Bellingham is a jewel,” Stegmeier said. “It is away from that crush and rush of the Seattle area.”
