COLLEGE BASKETBALL: Vikings basketball home to tip off first-ever GNAC tournament
It's tourney time!
It may be arriving two or so weeks earlier than usual, but for Western Washington University basketball the 2011 postseason tips off Monday, Feb. 28, with both the men and women hosting first-round games for the first-ever Great Northwest Athletic Conference Tournament.
The winner of the tournament earns an automatic bid to the West Regional of the NCAA Division II tournament as the GNAC champion. That's a fact the men's team, which secured a No. 4 seed with a 11-7 league record and 16-10 overall, will certainly embrace after dropping its last three games of the regular season. One of those losses came against fifth-place Northwest Nazarene University, which will be the Vikings' opponent for a 7:30 p.m. start on Monday.
