Donated bras help start third world businesses
Senior Jane Forman and junior Elva Nitereka, human services majors, are asking students to bring their gently used bras to an event called 鈥淔ree the Girls鈥 to Vendors Row from noon to 4 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 26, and Friday, Feb. 27.
鈥淔ree the Girls鈥 is a national organization based in Denver that sends donated bras to sex-trafficking survivors in underdeveloped countries like Mozambique, El Salvador, Kenya and Uganda. The bras are then sold in secondhand stores ran by these survivors, helping them to get back on their feet financially, Forman said.
