Gov. Inslee will lift Washington鈥檚 COVID-19 mask requirements on March 12 after change to federal guidelines
Gov. Jay Inslee has pushed up the timeline for lifting Washington鈥檚 COVID-19 mask requirements for schools and businesses to Saturday, March 12, after federal officials last week loosened public-health guidelines on face coverings.
The governor announced earlier this month that the statewide mandates 鈥 which cover grocery stores, child care facilities, gyms, bars and other indoor establishments 鈥 .
鈥淲e鈥檝e continued to monitor data from our state Department of Health, and have determined we are able to adjust the timing of our statewide mask requirement,鈥 Inslee said in the joint statement. 鈥淲hile this represents another step forward for Washingtonians, we must still be mindful that many within our communities remain vulnerable. Many businesses and families will continue choosing to wear masks, because we鈥檝e learned how effective they are at keeping one another safe.鈥
