Job growth slows in Washington, even as it surges nationally
Another potential factor behind the differences between state and national trends may reflect Washington鈥檚 relatively conservative approach to COVID-19 restrictions, said Hart Hodges, an economist and director of the Center for Economic and Business Research at Western Washington University.
鈥淚 wonder if some parts of the country are a little more cavalier about COVID and getting back to 鈥榥ormal鈥 while other parts 鈥 like us 鈥 are still being cautious,鈥 Hodges said. 鈥淚f so, we might expect slower job growth in the cautious areas.鈥
