‘Juneuary’ storm carries these weather-related hazards
Whatcom County’s “Juneuary” weather continues for the next several days with storms that could dump a month’s worth of rain by the weekend.
An atmospheric river of rain is churning toward Northwest Washington with the intensity of an autumn storm, packing strong wind and heavy rain and leading to lowland flooding, road closures and scattered power outages.
“A vigorous frontal system will bring rain later Thursday (June 9) and Thursday night. Rain will be heavy at times in the mountains. Friday (June 10) through Sunday (June 12) will be cool and showery,” National Weather Service meteorologist Reid Wolcott wrote in the online forecast discussion for the Seattle area.
