Local players help Western baseball team reach world Series
Player-manager Dan Skillman grinned and shook his head with amusement when asked what it took to get "over the hump," giving Western Washington University's student-coached club baseball team a chance to play in the national championship tournament after three consecutive near-misses.
"I guess it took four guys from Sehome," he said with perfect deadpan, as those four guys burst into laughter while talking about how Western qualified for the National Club Baseball Association World Series for the first time.
