Longtime Longview resident Sister Cecilia Marie Gri dies at age 98
Sister Cecilia Marie Gri, the longest-serving nun in the western region of the Sisters of St. Joseph of Peace, died early Sunday in Bellevue at the age of 98.
She was born July 15, 1913, in Greenwood, British Columbia, to Francis and Lois Gri. She went to convent school in Nelson, British Columbia, when she was 15 years old and was received as a novice nun Feb. 15, 1930, at age 16.
"The sisters kept telling me, 'You'd make a good sister,' and I believed them," she told a Daily News reporter in 2010.
