McCarty named defensive player of the week
Western Washington University defender Troy McCarty has been named the Red Lion/Great Northwest Athletic Conference Men's Soccer Defensive Player of the Week for Sept. 8-14.
McCarty, a freshman from Snohomish, played 161 minutes of solid defense and scored a goal on the only shot he took as the Vikings split a pair of home games last week. They defeated Notre Dame de Namur, 2-1, and lost 1-0 to Hawaii Pacific.
