Although Western Washington University men's basketball guard John Allen wasn't around to experience the pain and agony of losing 76-75 on a last second layup in overtime to Cal Poly Pomona in the second round of the NCAA Division II West Regional at Carver Gym in 2010, he's certainly heard about it.
"We all talk about that," Allen said. "It was actually a recruiting pitch when (Western) recruited me. They said, 'We lost by one to the eventual national champion.' That bitter taste still lingers over (Carver Gym), and we need to take advantage of what (the Vikings) didn't do in 2010."
