Mrs. Antilla's lessons in poetry, poise still echo in the hearts of her beloved students
When Buffe Antilla of Longview planned an 鈥渦nbirthday鈥 party to celebrate turning 95, the event was fashioned to mimic a school reunion. The beloved schoolteacher would spool back into the past, gathering former students from near and far 鈥 and as far back as the 1970s and 鈥50s.
They would meet at First Christian Church to reminisce and bask once more in her fond, elegant diction. Than a twist of events 鈥 and a leg that broke as she tripped while carrying a vase 鈥 caused the party to be undone, at least for the present.
