Old Manette Bridge lives on in unique mosaic
Manette's steel truss bridge remains only in memories, photos and now a bottle-cap mosaic.
The 91-year-old span was torn down after its $60.6 million concrete successor opened on Nov. 10. As the new span rose for 18 months from Port Washington Narrows, David Ryan was creating his own replacement in a Cogean Street garage. For nearly two years, the Bremerton artist flattened 7,000 beer bottle caps and nailed them to a sheet of plywood.
