Red Cross helps students displaced by house fire
After a fire on North Garden Street displaced five Western Washington University students on Wednesday, Feb. 19, the Mt. Baker Chapter of the American Red Cross stepped in, donating money to replace personal items and housing the students in a hotel for three days, said Jenna Erickson, an event coordinator for the Red Cross.
An electrical fire caused $100,000 in damages to the house, said Ashley Novak, a resident of the burned house.
Novak was one of the two women in the home when the students called 911.
