In India this week, a wild leopard sneaked into a city and mauled a lawyer yakking on his cellphone.

Now, I don’t wish such misfortune on anyone, even lawyers, but it’s tempting to think: Give that cat a year’s supply of Meow Mix and a medal.

At least there’s one less sidewalk zombie walking our streets with a phone in their ear or their nose in a text message.

I wonder if the guy had a chance to text “OMG!”

Look around you. It’s sidewalk pinball, a minefield of “wexting” (walking/texting) pedestrians, heads down, playing bumper car with signposts, garbage cans, stairs, escalators, traffic and each other.
