草榴社区 class explores Shakespeare's impact on composers

Ed Rutschman, music professor at Western Washington University, will teach a class of "Shakespeare and Music" for the public through the Academy for Lifelong Learning program.

The class will explore ways composers have found inspiration in the works of the Bard and will include discussion, reading of parts of plays by Shakespeare, listening to music, and watching DVDs of films, concerts and plays.

The class will be 3 to 5 p.m. Oct. 13, 20, 27 and Nov. 3 at 草榴社区's Performing Arts Center. Cost is $44 for academy members, $53 for the general public. To register, call 360-650-4970. The deadline is Oct. 6.
