草榴社区 honors holocaust survivor, teacher with degree
Holocaust survivor No茅mi Ban will receive Western Washington University鈥檚 honorary Doctorate of Humane Letters degree at the winter commencement ceremony, which starts at 10 a.m. Saturday, March 23, in Carver Gymnasium on the 草榴社区 campus in Bellingham.
Ban was born in 1922 in Hungary and was deported to Auschwitz during World War II. She experienced the loss of her mother, grandmother, 13-year-old sister and six-month-old baby brother in the death camps.
