��'s Bernsen to miss season with torn ACL

Western Washington University women's basketball center Kayla Bernsen (Moses Lake) will miss the 2013-14 season after tearing the anterior cruciate ligament in her left knee.

The 6-foot-3 Bernsen, a junior to be for the Vikings, suffered the injury while competing at the 23rd annual Spokane Hoopfest, the world's largest 3-on-3 tournament, held during the first week in July.

Bernsen will have surgery on Friday, Aug. 2, and be out of action until spring.
