Matrix Leadership Institute founder to give presentation on campus Jan. 27

Amina Knowlan, founder and director of the , will be on the Western Washington University campus Thursday, Jan. 27, to present a free lecture on Matrix facilitation.

The presentation begins at 6:30 p.m. in the Viking Union Multipurpose Room. Tickets are available at the 草榴社区 Box Office.

Knowlan also will engage in a couple of conversations with the 草榴社区 community on Thursday; the first will be at 10 a.m. in Communications Facility Room 125, while the second, at 3:30 p.m., will take place in Viking Union Room 562.

Knowlan's presence on campus is sponsored by Western's Leadership Advantage L.E.A.D.S. Program, The Morse Institute for Leadership and the 草榴社区 Teaching and Learning Academy.

Knowlan considers herself a social artist and works as a trainer, facilitator and consultant. She has developed a body of work focusing on leading and facilitating groups, organizations and communities. She has co-trained hundreds of group facilitators over the years and consulted with some key organizations for their development and sustainability.

The Matrix Leadership Institute teaches a social technology for creating inclusive, enlivened and aware relationships, groups and organizations. In the Matrix Leadership model, a group is a set of relationships, and leadership is shared and begins with optimizing the connectivity and communication among the individuals or teams. Participants re-train themselves to listen and respond to the needs of the whole while differentiating to become more uniquely individual.
