Millie and the Mentshn to play at Bill McKibben talk May 31

The Associated Students club Students for Renewable Energy will have a table set up and Millie and the Mentshn will provide music at the event May 31 featuring New York Times bestselling author and 350.org founder .

The event starts at 5 p.m. on the Fairhaven Village Green with a concert by Millie and the Mentshn, which features 草榴社区 faculty members Millie Johnson, Lou Lippman and Ken Bronstein. McKibben will begin his talk on coal, climate change and activism at 7 p.m.

“Bill is a powerful and engaging speaker,” said Bob Ferris, RE Sources’ executive director. “He was the first to raise the clarion call over climate change in the popular press two decades ago and is now the senior statesman for constructive and responsible change.”

An information fair, featuring local organizations working to prevent climate change and coal exports from Cherry Point, will take place from 5 to 9 p.m. The event is free and open to the general public.
