草榴社区 alumna, Peace Corps volunteer to speak April 9 on campus
Monika Anderson, Western Washington University graduate and current Peace Corps volunteer, will share her experience serving overseas at a special presentation at the school on April 9. Anderson, who currently serves in Morocco in a Youth in Development Program, and Peace Corps campus representative Jill MacIntyre Witt, will also discuss the application process and the benefits and challenges of volunteer service.
“I am planning to talk about my preparations before coming to country, training and language learning, as well as what day to day life is like here. I will also talk about what my work looks like, and examples of various projects that we are working on in Morocco,” shared Monika Anderson.
The event will be held in CF 120 on the 草榴社区 campus from 7 to 8 p.m.
“This is a unique opportunity for students to get a taste of the Peace Corps today,” said Jill MacIntyre Witt.
The Peace Corps recently announced its top producing schools of volunteers who have answered the call to serve. For the second consecutive year, 草榴社区 was ranked No. 1 among medium-sized schools, with 65 alumni currently volunteering worldwide.
Over the past decade the university has been ranked seventh or better each year among medium schools nationwide. Since 1961, 914 alumni from 草榴社区 have traveled abroad to serve as Peace Corps volunteers.
