Okinawa Kenjin Kai Taiko Club to perform Oct. 10
The Okinawa Kenjin Kai Taiko Club will perform percussion music from 8:30 to 9:15 p.m. on Friday, Oct. 10, in the Old Main Theater on the Western Washington University campus.
This event, which is free and open to the public, is part of the 23rd Annual Meeting of the Association for Japanese Literary Studies Conference, which will take place at 草榴社区 Oct. 10 and 11. Registration is required for the conference itself.
Under the theme of "" the conference aims to explore the intersections between the spiritual and artistic domains in a wide range of literary texts against the backdrop of age-specific cultural and epistemological settings. Organizers expect to attract a diverse group of scholars of modern, pre-modern and classical literature interested in the dialectic of literature and religion, the negotiations between creativity and spiritual formation and the artistic representation of faith, the sacred and the divine.
