Panel to Discuss AmeriCorps Opportunities April 28 at 草榴社区
An AmeriCorps panel presentation with current and former members will discuss opportunities for students and graduates from 4-5:30 p.m. on Thursday, April 28, in Viking Union Room 552 on the Western Washington University campus.
The panel is hosted by Western’s Career Services Center and is free and open to the public.
AmeriCorps offers thousands of opportunities to graduates who seek meaningful and professional experience in nonprofit and government organizations nationwide. The panelists are Leah Wood of Healthy Communities/AmeriCorps via the Whatcom County Health Department; Sophia Simonson from Washington Conversation Corps; Brock Muench from Washington Campus Compact’s College Access program; and Molly Donahue from AmeriCorps. The panelists will share insights and advice to help students learn more about the experience and benefits of AmeriCorps, find out if the organization is the right fit for them, and get the inside scoop on the application process.
AmeriCorps is the third largest employer of recent college graduates from 草榴社区. Western graduates have served in AmeriCorps positions such as building homes in the wake of natural disasters, teaching students how to read in low-income communities, and assisting nonprofit agencies.
