Peace Health's Dale Zender and Chris Phillips to speak Feb. 8
Western Washington University’s College of Business and Economics will host Dale Zender and Chris Phillips of PeaceHealth for its Ethics and Social Responsibility Executive Strategy Speaker Series at 3 p.m. on Friday, Feb. 8 in Academic West 204 on Western’s campus.
The presentation is free and open to the public.
Zender has been employed for the past 29 years by PeaceHealth St. Joseph Medical Center, a Washington not-for-profit corporation sponsored by the Sisters of St. Joseph of Peace. During this time he has built a distinguished and diversified background in the health care industry by combining finance, strategic and planning skills with a deep understanding of all aspects of operations and management. He is viewed as a servant leader – confident, patient, determined and constantly aspiring to learn new things.
Zender was the 2011 recipient of the John Tiscornia Award, which honors at least 20 years of service modeling outstanding leadership, stewardship and exemplification of PeaceHealth values.
Phillips serves as part of the regional executive team for PeaceHealth in his current position as director for Community Affairs and Strategic Communication at PeaceHealth St. Joseph Medical Center. Phillips received his master's degree in Counseling Psychology from the University of San Francisco. He has served as the clinical director of a community mental health center in Monterey, Calif., a grant evaluator for an interagency project designed to provide coordinated primary healthcare and social services for people who are homeless in Burlington, Vt., and the executive director of a community health center in Bellingham.
Phillips’ interest in the field of ethics centers on organizational ethics and the ways that organizations make decisions in accordance with their stated values. Phillips is a member of the PeaceHealth St. Joseph Medical Center Ethics Committee and served as committee chair for five years. Phillips is a past member of the Bellingham Port Ethics Committee.
Western’s College of Business and Economics Strategic Management Executive Strategy Speaker Series program brings senior business leaders to campus to interact with students and share their perspectives on strategic management, leadership and professional development. The Speaker Series is presented by Western’s College of Business and Economics’ Center for Excellence in Management Education.
