Ericka Huggins highlights Activism Week at Western

Social activist Ericka Huggins was on campus Wednesday, Feb. 28, to speak as part of about racial, class, gender and sexual identities and the importance of finding and loving oneself on the road to universal acceptance. Formerly of the Black Panther Party during the 1960s and '70s, Huggins has witnessed many societal issues that she says need changing; she stresses that people look at everyone as a singular human race, rather than using cultural definitions for race, to help bring the world together.

Tonight, as part of Activism Week, is a discussion on access to public transit. Speakers from the Seattle Transit Riders Union will be in AW Room 210 from 6 to 7:30 to share their thoughts on transportation equality, positing that “every human being has access to safe, affordable, and reliable public transit.”
