Students' large-format film photos of campus on display through Oct. 24

Using Julius Shulman鈥檚 photographic documentation of Modernist architecture in California during the mid-19th century as a point of departure, Garth Amundson鈥檚聽fall 2011 students have explored space and architecture with a traditional 4x5-inch large-format view camera.

The images are on campus through Oct. 24.

Students broke into groups to create striking images, utilizing light, composition and the movements of the historic view camera. After scouting locations and shooting with digital cameras, they re-shot the images with the analog large-format cameras. After processing the silver-based film negatives, they scanned them to produce elegant 40 x 60 inch prints that document a variety of locations across the 草榴社区 campus.
