Preliminary work begins on new Student Success Center; utilities work set for April 21-25 near lot 19G
In preparation for construction of the planned , a contractor will be on campus April 21 – 25 doing exploratory work around parking lot 19G and Academic West. On the April 21 between 10:30 p.m. and 6:30 a.m., the contractor will clean underground pipes to prepare for CCTV inspection of the area's underground utilities. The inspections will be done on April 22. Vehicles will be parked toward the south end of 19G and on the access roads but should not block access.
On April 23-24, with the possibility of work extending to April 25, teams will dig to locate points of connection for the new building to the existing utilities. The work has been scheduled overnight to avoid noise disruptions to classes and other activities held in the Communications Facility, Academic Instructional Center East, and Academic West. Residents in the Ridgeway and Fairhaven Complexes may hear some activity during the night, but the complexes are far enough away from the work site that significant noise disruption is not anticipated.
