Resource Modeling Update and Request for Feedback

Dear Campus Community:

On behalf of the President鈥檚 Advisory Committee on Institutional Resource Modeling, we are pleased to present to the University our drivers and assumptions, revised based on feedback we received. The committee and working groups are very appreciative of the thoughtful feedback, which helped sharpen our thinking in several areas. This is our final version, which we are using in the modeling process. You can find the final versions under 鈥淔inal Drivers and Assumptions.鈥

We have added two statements addressing areas of particular concern as expressed in the feedback. One concerns the relationship between grant-seeking and overall productivity in research, scholarship, and creative activity. The other concerns definitions of excellence for students, staff, and faculty.

After revising the drivers and assumptions, we have been working on the actual model to fulfill the President鈥檚 charge. We are asking for feedback on the conceptual diagram of the model you can find . The model attempts to show the relationships between all the drivers identified by the working groups, the outcomes identified in the committee charge from the Strategic Plan, and the resources (in broad categories) necessary for the drivers to affect those outcomes in the desired way.

You can provide feedback in multiple ways鈥攖hrough an e-mail to 草榴社区ResourceModeling@wwu.edu, anonymously through , and by attending one of the two town halls we have scheduled for the following dates, times, and locations:

Tuesday, April 23, 4 p.m., FR 201

Thursday, April 25, 9 a.m., FR 201

We ask for your feedback by noon Friday, April 26.

We look forward to hearing your comments as we continue working on this important project.
