Retired Ford President and CEO Alan Mulally to Speak at the Western Leadership Forum Oct. 25

Retired President and CEO of the Ford Motor Corp. Alan Mulally will be the keynote speaker at the 2018 Western Washington University Leadership Forum on Thursday, Oct. 25 at the Hotel Bellwether in Bellingham.

Doors will open at 11:30 a.m. with lunch service beginning at noon; the keynote address will begin at 12:30 p.m.

Mulally served as president and CEO of The Ford Motor Company and as a member of Ford鈥檚 board of directors from September 2006 to June 2014. Mulally led Ford鈥檚 transformation into one of the world鈥檚 leading automobile companies and the #1 automobile brand in the United States. He guided Ford in working together on a compelling vision, comprehensive strategy and implementation of the One Ford plan to deliver profitable growth for all of the company鈥檚 stakeholders.

Prior to joining Ford, Mulally served as EVP of the Boeing Company, president and CEO of Boeing Commercial Airplanes, and president of Boeing information, Space and Defense Systems. Throughout his career, Mulally has been recognized for his contributions, industry leadership, and service, including being named #3 on Fortune鈥檚 鈥淲orld鈥檚 Greatest Leaders,鈥 one of the 30 鈥淲orld鈥檚 Best CEO鈥檚鈥 by Barrons鈥 magazine, one of 鈥淭he World鈥檚 Most Influential People鈥 by Time magazine, and 鈥淐hief Executive of the Year鈥 by Chief Executive magazine.

He was also honored with the American Society for Quality鈥檚 medal for excellence in executive leadership, the Automotive Executive of the Year, and the Thomas Edison Achievement Award. Mulally is a Museum of Flight Pathfinder and a member of the Automobile Hall of Fame.

Mulally previously served on President Obama鈥檚 United States Export Council. He served as cochairman of the Washington Competitiveness Council, and has served on the advisory boards of the National Aeronautics and Space Administration, the University of Washington, the University of Kansas, the Massachusetts Institute of Technology and the United States Air Force Scientific Advisory Board. Mulally has also served as President of the American Institute of Aeronautics and Astronautics and as Chairman of the Board of Governors of the Aerospace Industries Association. Mulally is a member of the United States National Academy of Engineering and a fellow of England鈥檚 Royal Academy of Engineering.

Mulally currently serves on the board of directors of Google, Carbon 3D, and the Mayo Clinic. He holds bachelor鈥檚 and master鈥檚 degrees in Aeronautical and Astronautical Engineering from the University of Kansas, and a master鈥檚 degree in Management from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology as an Alfred P. Sloan Fellow.

The 草榴社区 Leadership Forum is an annual opportunity for business and civic leaders to connect with friends of the university and to enjoy an address by a prominent professional. The title sponsor for the event is Moss Adams, a nationally recognized accounting and consulting firm.

All proceeds from the event support student scholarships and table sponsorships are available at the $2,500 Mount Shuksan and $3,500 Mount Baker levels. The Mount Baker level provides funding for one named 草榴社区 scholarship and includes the 11:30 private reception with Alan Mulally. Limited numbers of individual tickets are available for $150 each.
