Rotten tree felled near Old Main
One of the trees lining the memory walk near Old Main was removed on Wednesday, June 27.
The tree, which seven years ago lost a limb that nearly injured a passerby, was growing dangerously unstable branches, said Gary Hodge, Western's outdoor maintenance supervisor. On its removal, workers found that the tree's inside was rotten.
Workers will replace the tree, next to the large black locust, with an elm in a week or two, Hodge said.
