RSP's Next Grant-Writing Workshop Set for Nov. 2

Writing More Effective Proposals - A Series of Workshops

Research and Sponsored Programs (RSP) is pleased to serve the campus community by offering a number of workshops designed to help faculty and staff members write more effective proposals to external agencies. This is a new series and is in response to requests from several 草榴社区 members.

Mark Bussell, director of the Advanced Materials Science and Engineering Center (AMSEC) and Andy Bunn, former and founding director of the Institute for Energy Studies (IES) will be the featured speakers for the fourth workshop on writing more effective NSF proposals. They will explain how the faculty within AMSEC and IES work together to form strong teams of collaborators. They will also discuss how AMSEC and IES were created and their continuing mission.

The sessions are intended to be interactive and are meant to build a community for those involved in writing proposals. The fourth meeting is on Monday, Nov. 2 from 11:30 a.m. - 1 p.m. in Miller Hall room 258. Graduate students are welcome to attend. This session is meant for those interested in interdisciplinary projects.

In fall quarter, the workshops will focus on those PI’s who will be writing proposals to the National Science Foundation (NSF). NSF remains our largest external partner in research funding. In winter and spring quarters, the workshop series will be centered on other agencies and private foundations.

Following the workshop on Nov. 2, RSP will offer one additional workshop this quarter. The series concludes for fall quarter with Bernard Housen, Joann Otto, and Dean Emeritus Arlan Norman sharing their perspectives and wisdom on Monday, Nov. 16.

If you would like to RSVP for the workshop or would like to be on the email list for workshop information, please contact the RSP Program Coordinator, Coco Besson, at coco.besson@wwu.edu.
